Move Zanzibar is a community-based organization located in Jambiani, on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. We believe that every child deserves a safe place to grow, learn, dream, and discover their potential.
Through acrobatics, dance, music, education, and community activities, we create opportunities for children and young people to build confidence, develop life skills, and become active members of their community.
Move Zanzibar is more than a training space—it is a family where creativity, discipline, respect, and teamwork help shape brighter futures.
Our Story
Move Zanzibar was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to give children and young people a positive environment where they could express themselves, develop their talents, and find new opportunities.
What started as a small group of passionate young acrobats has grown into a vibrant community center where children come together every day to train, learn, play, and support one another.
Over the years, the project has welcomed local children, volunteers, and visitors from all over the world, creating meaningful cultural exchanges and lasting friendships.
Meet Our Founder
Clalence Lutumo
Move Zanzibar was founded by Clalence Valentino Lutumo, whose personal journey is the inspiration behind everything we do.
Originally from Iringa, in mainland Tanzania, Clalence spent part of his adolescence living on the streets. Growing up without stability meant facing daily challenges that many young people should never have to experience.
Everything changed when he discovered acrobatics.
What began as a passion soon became a path toward discipline, confidence, and opportunity. Through years of dedication, acrobatics gave him not only professional skills but also the chance to build a different future—one based on hard work, creativity, and hope.
Today, Clalence has chosen to dedicate his life to giving other children the same opportunity that changed his own.
He believes that every young person has potential. Sometimes, all they need is a safe place, someone who believes in them, and the chance to discover their talents.
That belief led to the creation of Move Zanzibar: a community where children and young people can grow through sport, education, creativity, and mutual support.
For Clalence, acrobatics is much more than a performance. It is a tool for personal development, a source of confidence, and a way to show that there are always positive alternatives, regardless of where someone starts in life.
